La Mezquita Azul

Obra maestra que el Imperio Otomano heredó a la humanidad, siendo la Mezquita Azul la más importante de todas, es uno de los monumentos más impresionantes del mundo. Fue construida por el sultán Ahmed I entre los años 1609 y 1616 e inaugurada en el año 1617, durante el mandato del Sultán Mustafá I, este gran monumento fue levantada en el lugar que ocupaba el gran Palacio de Constantinopla frente a Santa Sofía. La intención del Sultán al construir la Mezquita Azul fue que esta sea la primera mezquita de su Imperio encargando la obra al arquitecto Sedefkar Mehmet Aga.

El Palacio de Topkapi

La residencia de los sultanes fue el centro administrativo del Imperio Otomano desde 1465 hasta 1853, y fue construido por el Sultán Mehmed II basándose en la arquitectura secular del Imperio, El Sultán gobernó la ciudad desde este maravilloso Palacio ya que su ubicación le permitió tener un panorama amplio del Bósforo de Estambul, con un área de 70,000 m2 este lugar muestra como era la vida del sultán y de sus súbditos. Aquí podemos apreciar el famoso Harem, lugar donde vivían sus concubinas y que han sido un factor importante para conservar la casta del imperio. En 1856 el Sultán Abdulmecid decidió trasladar su residencia hacia el Palacio Dolmabahce de un estilo más occidental.

El Gran Bazar

En un complejo muy antiguo de origen comercial, es el mercado más legendario del mundo y de gran tamaño, cuenta con más de 3,600 tiendas y aquí se puede encontrar una serie de diversos productos, fue mandado a construir por el Sultán Mehmed II en el año 1455, en el interior del gran bazar hay toda una inmensa estructura histórica y sus calles pueden ser realmente un laberinto. La torre de Gálata se alza en lo alto de la Gálata kulesi sokağı.  Esta gigantesca  construcción, erigida a 135 m sobre el nivel del mar y cuyo techo cónico  culmina a 67 m de altura, domina toda la orilla septentrional de Cuerno de  Oro. Se lanzó desde lo alto de esta torre provisto de los enormes alas que él mismo se había fabricado y cosiguió atravesar el Bósforo, aterrizando en la otra orilla, en Üsküdar.

Café turco

Expulsados de Viana por el duque francés Carlos de Lorena y Juan III Sobieski, rey de Polania, en la batalla de Kahlenberg en 1683, abondonó quinientos sacos de café. Un polaco, Kulyeziski, que sabía turco y proporcionó informaciones preciosas al ejército victorioso, recibió como recompensa la nacionalidad austriaca y los sacos de marras. En 1685, abrió el famoso Zur Blauen Flasche (la botella azul) servían café una pasta en forma de cuarto creciente (croissant) que celebrara la victoria sobre los otomanos. Para mitigar el gusto amargo del café a la turca, Kulyeziski tuvo la idea de filtrarlo, de añadirle miel y nata: había nacido el café vienes.

Aunque el café sigue siendo apreciado en Turquía, se consume mucho menos que el té. Cuando el Imperio Otomano perdío la provincia de Yemen, perdió con ella el café. Al tener que ser importado, quedó fuera de las posibilidades de las clases medias.

Un buen café turco hierve con el poso y el azúcar y tiene que llegar a ebullición al menos tres veces. No olvidéis que el cafe turco no puede beberse sin keyif. El keyif consiste en relajarse,  deleitarse por la calle. En Turquía, esto es una gozada.

The gyravago dervishes, also known as Mevlevi, form an order or tariqa founded around the 13th century by the followers of the famous Sufi poet Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi. What places will we see from our cruise on a motor sailboat?

Can we sail?

What should we carry?
Remember that you will probably spend most of your time in your swimsuit! For travel on land a pair of lightweight long pants and shirt or shirt is advisable.
