CAPPADOCIA, COUNTRY OF THE BEAUTIFUL HORSES

The geographical location of Cappadocia made crossroads of trade routes for centuries, and also the object of continuous invasions. Today is an essential route for tourism in the country. Capadocia is full of corners, places of interest and routes for lovers of hiking and adventure. It is difficult to summarize what can be seen in Cappadocia. From the small town of Göreme it is best to walk, walk the trails, full of wonders. The Selenite landscape is, possibly, one of the most beautiful and surprising in the world. The chimneys of fairies grow everywhere, creating a heady panorama.

Cappadocia, was the name of an ancient area in eastern Asia Minor (modern Anatolia), which meant ” The Country of Beautiful Horses ” probably in the language of the Hittites or the Persians, the horses of the region became famous for being offered as a gift to the kings Asurbanipal, of Assyria, and Dario and Xerxes, of Persia.
This region stretched from Ponto Euxino (now the Black Sea) to the Taurus mountains (now Toros) on the Anatolian peninsula. But today, if you try to find it on the map, the name of Cappadocia is not mentioned in many since it is not a political demarcation as such. Rather it is a region can be considered a circle of fifty kilometers in diameter, covering portions of several provinces of cities such as Nevsehir, Aksaray, Niğde, Kayseri ve Kırşehir. Most of the sites of interest are in the towns of the city of Nevşehir that they are; Acıgöl, Avanos, Derinkuyu, Gülşehir, Ürgüp.
In 1985, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO with a protected area of 9,576 hectares, because Capadocia is characterized by having a unique geological formation unique in the world, and its historical and cultural heritage.

For thousands of years and until now, there have always been human settlements in the region. Some ancient civilizations flourished here, like the Hittite, and others came from European civilizations or from other regions of Asia Minor, and all of them have left their cultural imprint on Cappadocia.
The geological characteristics of the place have led to its landscapes being often described as “lunar landscapes”. The land of the place, called calcareous tufa, is a mixture of ash, lava and natural cement of the land. Little by little, the depressions disappeared, transforming the region into a high plateau. However, the mineral that filled the depressions is not very resistant to the action of winds, rains, rivers and temperature differences; so the erosion was “sculpting” the numerous valleys for which Capadocia is famous. The terrain has acquired capricious forms after ten million years of erosion, and in this way, the lunar landscapes are full of caverns, natural and artificial, many of which are still inhabited.

The material of Cappadocia, tuff is soft enough to allow the human being to build his dwellings by digging into it, but at the same time not weak because it resists about 20 cm. of thickness once excavated, resisting the effects of time. Thus the inhabitants of Cappadocia instead of building buildings dug their houses to live, underground cities to use as shelters in the moments of the attacks of their enemies, castles to monitor their movements then to send pigeons messengers or warning with the smoke that is approaching the danger to hide in the shelters of the underground cities, some had up to seven floors.

Hiking is an activity (sport, travel, hobby, hobby) consisting of walking routes and trails of particular interest. This activity is particularly enriching because it unites culture and physical exercise in contact with nature.

There are several types of routes, the most interesting or known are made in the valleys and ravines of Cappadocia that are innumerable. From all over the world people come to trekking in the high hills, to forget their problems and eliminate the stress of everyday life, entering the underground cities, passing between vineyards, famous chimneys of the fairies and the rock churches excavated by the communities of the first Christians. The beauty of the lunar landscape and the rich history of Cappadocia take us to other worlds far from worries.

The fantastic landscapes of the region of Turkey that was formerly called Capadocia are the result of an orogenic caprice, in which the powerful action of volcanoes, rain and weather has taken part. The volcanic sediments that make up the soil crust of Cappadocia have suffered for ages the fierce erosion of the climatic elements of the Anatolian plateau, creating little by little an unreal decoration populated by implausible rock formations, more typical of the world of dreams than of the real . In turn, men have intervened to further torment these landscapes, piercing their insides to sculpt churches and monasteries, riddling walls and rock floors to build labyrinthine underground cities. The rock architecture reaches in Cappadocia its apotheosis.
In Cappadocia you will see the landscape from many different points of view. You can have a dimension by entering the underground city. Another different, entering the troglodyte houses or climbing to the heights of the castles dug into the rock. But do you think that is all? … and in Globo ?, is the third dimension from a bird’s eye view from a thousand meters. Feel the balloon flight as one of the most unforgettable experiences of your life and get to know the landscapes of the Cappadocia region, flying over a spectacular lunar landscape.

Come to Fly

Flying in a balloon is feeling what you’ve never felt. It is living the moment, it is living the emotion. It is letting yourself fly. Soft, light and imperceptibly. Once. And another. And another … Each time different, each time, unrepeatable. But always, to another level. Any description of the hot air balloon flight will be short compared to the experience of doing so. Imagine flying freely without a rudder, letting yourself be dragged only by the winds and the moment. Experience a romantic hot air balloon ride over one of the most beautiful magical towns in Cappadocia. Enjoy the fascination and adventurous spirit experienced by the first balloon travelers. Let yourself be carried away by a unique sensation and live now an experience that at least you should live at least once in your life.

Collection of passengers at the point marked from 04.45 to 05.00h (the exact time will be confirmed at the time of booking). From there, transfer to the place of takeoff. Once there, assembly of the balloon, first it is filled with cold air by means of a fan and, once full, it is heated up to take the vertical position. We will fly over the natural environment of Cappadocia. Once in the air, we will follow the direction of the wind, so we know where we take off but not where we land, that is the adventure. But, there is no problem, we are followed by the rescue unit, with which we are in contact via radio and GPS, although nothing better than visual contact.

In Capadocia, we fly flush with the treetops (apricot trees, apple trees), the passengers, usually, pluck leaves or fruits from the trees. This is done so that they have a feeling of mobility. It’s a feeling like going on a sailboat, but floating in the air. Once we have landed, after a flight of 60 minutes, we have a small celebration, that of Air Baptism. The passenger is given a Diploma, baptized with a hot air name, and offered a glass of cava.
After this small celebration, the balloon is collected, if the rescue has arrived, and we moved to the hotel to follow the program of the day with the rest of the group, and giving them envy for the experience. “
